Bot Commands
The ExpenseCapture bot currently understands the following commands:
/help to get help tailored for you
/mysheet to get a link to your sheet
/update [newemailaddress] to change your email address (/update me@mynewemail.com)
/delete to find out how to remove all your data
Signing Up
Sign up to ExpenseCapture by clicking on this link @ExpenseCapture and sending /start to the ExpenseCapture bot in your Telegram Messenger app. Then follow the prompts.
Capturing Receipts
To capture a receipt send a photo or document to the ExpenseCapture bot in your Telegram Messenger app. Then optionally follow the prompts to capture the amount, date, shop or provider and expense category.
Everytime you send a new photo or document the previous data capture item is assumed to be completed and a new data capture item is started.
Managing Receipt Data
Send /mysheet to the ExpenseCapture bot to receive the link to your ExpenseCapture spreadsheet at any time.
Use any columns beyond the system-created ones to store additional data or perform calculations.
File Access
For users who signed up with a Gmail or Gmail-associated email address, Google's built-in Drive security is used to ensure the privacy of stored photos, documents and the sheet. Such users have full 'writer' access to the sheet and all the files sent to the ExpenseCapture bot. Their sheet and all uploaded files can be found under 'Shared with me' in the Google Drive associated with the email address.
For users who signed up with a non-gmail email address (not ending in @gmail.com and not associated to a Gmail account), the Google Sheet is also secured by the same mechanism. In such cases, the sheet data is viewable, but not editable until the email address becomes associated to a Gmail account. Photos and documents submitted to ExpenseCapture by such users are accessible to anyone with the associated link.
Deleting Your Data
Send the /delete command to the ExpenseCapture bot to find out how to irrevocably delete your data. This cannot be undone.
Service Limits
ExpenseCapture does not currently implement a limit on the total amount of storage each user is permitted to utilise, but such a limit will be implemented in the near future.
A restriction regarding the maximum allowable file size for photos and documents uploaded to the ExpenseCapture bot exists.
